Airbnb has new rules for certain guests under the age of 25!

U.S. guests under the age of 25 who have fewer than three positive reviews may no longer book entire homes near where they live, according to the new rules. However, they may book any type of listing outside their local area and private rooms and hotel rooms located anywhere. Guests under age 25 with at least three positive reviews and no negative reviews are exempt from the rule, according to Airbnb.

AAA: Road trips to be primary mode of vacation travel this summer

With COVID-19 restrictions slowly easing, officials say Kansans are eager to begin traveling again.

This summer, AAA forecasts Americans will take 700 million trips based on economic indicators and state re-openings. That number is down nearly 15% compared to last July through September and is the first decline in summer travel since 2009. AAA booking trends show Americans are making travel plans, though cautiously and more spur of the moment.

Airbnb CEO: Travel will become ‘more intimate and more local’ due to pandemic

Speaking exclusively with NBC’s Sam Brock, Brian Chesky, CEO and co-founder of peer-to-peer lodging service Airbnb, predicts that in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, “Travel is going to shift: It’s going to be smaller, more intimate, more local.” The company has developed an enhanced cleaning protocol for hosts.

CDC: Coronavirus mainly spreads through person-to-person contact and 'does not spread easily' on contaminated surfaces

While touching infected surfaces has always been part of the messaging on how the virus spreads, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently shifted its stance online. The CDC now says that COVID-19 spreads from person to person contact, and then lists touching infected surfaces under a section titled, "The virus does not spread easily in other ways." The CDC adds: “This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about this virus.” The language is a subtle change from the organization’s warning in early March, when it wrote simply that it “may be possible” to spread the virus through contaminated surfaces.

Airbnb is asking Congress to help out its hosts, after it just hit their revenue by overriding their cancellations policies due to the coronavirus crisis

In a letter sent Tuesday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the online travel company recommended that the legislature pass a collection of tax relief and loan measures that would specifically benefit its network of hosts. The measures would provide both short-term help for property managers and, longer term, potentially make the short-term rental business more profitable for them.

The influx of tourism spending by Airbnb guests at restaurants and cafes is being felt around the world. In Europe, Airbnb guests spent at least an estimated US$11 billion at restaurants and cafes in 2018, including over US$2.7 billion in France, US$1.7 billion in Spain, and US$1.3 billion in Great Britain. In the Americas, Airbnb guests spent at least an estimated US$10.2 billion at restaurants and cafes in 2018, including about US$7.6 billion in the United States, US$989 million in Canada, and US$650 million in Mexico. In Asia, Airbnb guests spent at least an estimated US$2.4 billion at restaurants and cafes in 2018, including more than US$755 million in Japan and US$493 million in China. Airbnb guests spent an estimated US$1.1 billion at restaurants and cafes in Australia and New Zealand in 2018, and about US$156 million in South Africa.
